Why We Support the HDSA Boise Affiliate

The Nicole and Peter Rimac Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to honor the extraordinary kindness of a community that became family.

When Nicole moved to Boise, the HDSA Affiliate didn’t just provide resources; they provided a home. Under the selfless leadership of Social Worker Nicole Todd and Affiliate Chair President Sarah Weber, the Boise HDSA community served as a constant lifeline for Nicole. When her health declined and she eventually passed away, Nicole and Sarah stepped into the gap for her brother, Peter, who was facing his own battles with Huntington’s disease and cancer on the East Coast.

These remarkable women led with "servant hearts," managing everything from coordinating with hospice and clearing Nicole’s apartment to shipping her car and ensuring her beloved dog found a forever home in East Idaho. Their support extended to us as well, guiding us through the logistics of Nicole’s Celebration of Life and recommending the beautiful spot in Stanley, Idaho, where Nicole and Peter are now at rest. We chose to house this scholarship with the HDSA Idaho Affiliate to express our profound gratitude for Nicole and Sarah’s grace. Our hope is to pay their kindness forward, ensuring that other families in the Boise community feel the same unwavering support that carried us through our most difficult times.

This scholarship was funded by friends and family of Peter & Nicole.
